Delve a little deeper into local history and culture and a different side of Altinkum can also be enjoyed. Didim is the main town in the region, which Altinkum adjoins, and is very famous for its Saturday market and the ancient Didyma. Didyma is the site of the Temple of Apollo which was once the centre of a Miletian sacred precinct that was first built around 560 BC. So for a perfect mix of sun, sea, sand and historical interest Altinkum is the perfect choice.

The Beach and Promenade

The resort is set around a broad swathe of gently sloping sand, which shelves into the crystal clear waters of the Aegean and possesses some of the most beautiful beaches along the Aegean coast. The 'first' beach is the largest and most popular and there are sunbeds and umbrellas for hire at very reasonable rates. At dusk Altinkum the resort comes into its own. Exciting and unpretentious - there's a real buzz to this place and yet it manages to hold on to its laid back charm. The easy going carefree nightlife scene helps to ensure that you have a relaxing and enjoyable holiday.

Altinkum life centres around Dolphin Square, with its myriad of shops, pavement cafes and restaurants. Stroll to the end of Dolphin Square and you are faced with the stunning golden sands of Altinkum beach, and the rich blue hues of the Aegean sea. A right turn will lead you down one side of the promenade, offering many more restaurants, bars and nightspots. If you are feeling particularly energetic a good place to stop off at is the Medusa open air disco.
