For a holiday to remember it must be Altinkum, Turkey
The Beach and Promenade
The beautiful seafront promenade is lined with a good choice of bars and restaurants, perfect for taking a break from the hot sun and watching the world go. Eating Out Part of the joy of visiting Turkey is to experience the food and Altinkum and Didim are no exception. Here you will find a fantastic selection of both informal and formal bars and restaurants serving traditional Turkish dishes including, meze appetisers, skewered meat kebabs, grilled meats and fishes and so much more. The choice of cuisine is almost endless an there are also a large number of bars and restaurants that serve English and international dishes. You will find that prices are very reasonable and also that many bars also serve snacks throughout the day. If you do prefer to cook for yourself then there is a wide choice of local and international food available from either local shops or supermarkets. There are two major supermarkets locally very similar to supermarkets in the UK, where you can buy almost anything including freshly baked bread and there are smaller supermarkets everywhere.
Whether you prefer a local bar to sit in and watch the world go by or enjoy the lively night life in one of the many clubs and music bars into the early hours you are bound to find something that will suit you. At dusk Altinkum the resort comes into its own. You have a choice of the unhurried atmosphere of informal bars and lokantas or the labyrinth of streets cluttered with night-life, open into the small hours. Exciting and unpretentious - there's a real buzz to this place and yet it manages to hold on to its laid back charm. The easy going carefree nightlife scene helps to ensure that you have a relaxing and enjoyable holiday. Altinkum life centres around Dolphin Square, with its myriad of shops, pavement cafes and restaurants. Stroll to the end of Dolphin Square and you are faced with the stunning golden sands of Altinkum beach, and the rich blue hues of the Aegean sea. A right turn will lead you down one side of the promenade, offering many more restaurants, bars and nightspots. If you are feeling particularly energetic a good place to stop off at is the Medusa open air disco.
The shopping area of Altinkum is located along and behind the main promenade and is very conveniently located for your apartment. Didim is a bustling town with lots of shops and bazaars selling everything from hand made carpets, leather gifts and some wonderful jewellery and the locals will expect you to haggle; this is all part of the Turkish experience. There is a good choice of shops as well with two major supermarkets, lots of local shops for every day shopping and most of these shops are open until late at night with no afternoon siesta. A lot of the shop keepers speak English as a second language and the local shops are all within easy walking distance of your apartment. On Saturdays there is a very big local street market in Didim selling everything from tee shirts to wet fish. The shops and market are great places to mix with the local people and enjoy the real atmosphere of living in Turkey.
